Hello, I’m a communications graduate/comedy writer/performer extraordinaire.  All joking aside, the latter is an example of the business side of entertainment: selling of a product.  I discovered early on that as a standup comic you are in essence self-employed and you need to take your finances seriously or your “business” will “tank”. This is especially true in the early stages when expenses such as traveling, website  maintenance, and media kit development far outweigh your income.  I love making people laugh, and I love when money makes more money.
